SI's footage of the hugest drop ever stomped

The video of Tyler Bradt, who ran Washington's 186-foot Palouse Falls on April 21, is on Sports Illustrated's website.

In March, Pedro Olivia shocked the whitewater world with his world-record descent of 127-foot Santa Bella Falls in Brazil. Bradt, however, once again landed atop the waterfall ladder with his run of Palouse Falls. Bradt had set the record in 2007 with a 107-foot descent of Alexandra Falls in the Northwest Territories.

Read Paddler editorial assistant Joe Jackson's interview with Bradt shortly after he stomped Alexandra, which offers some insight into why and how Bradt is able to run these huge waterfalls. Bradt garnered considerable media attention for his part of the 2007 Oil + Water Expedition, the 13-month, 39,400-mile bio-ride with Seth Warren.

Bradt and Warren drove a biofuel-powered converted firetruck from Alaska to Argentina before Bradt's Alexandra descent. The purpose of the trip was to raise awareness how biofuel can off set the environmental impact of petroleum engines.

Bradt also appears in the Leading Off section of the May 18 print issue of Sports Illustrated. No that isn't Bradt on the cover. That's disgraced Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez.
