John Koch has been designing and building the prettiest kayak trailers on the market for five years now. But the basic design hasn't changed much. Until now. At Salt Lake City's Outdoor Retailer show last summer, Koch unveiled the Roadie. It doesn't do much more than the original KD 78, except look a little prettier. And boy is it pretty: It’s got the muscle of a '69 Mustang and the elegance of BMW’s M-Coupe.

This is the most obvious trait of the Roadie, but like the original KD 78, it has another: You can fold it up into your suitcase and bring it on a plane flight as a carry-on. Well, not really. But you can fold it down into a corner of your garage, which is what might prevent the spouse from donating it to Goodwill during those stretches when you just don't seem to need it. Price: $3,000; www.rackandroll.com
